...hmmm, that was....anti-climatic.....

LUV ya with all my blood, Greg, but it would've served a whole lot more 'thrill', if you will, if we saw Lance find Brad and explain the situation, or to see Brad react with fear, anxiety, confusion, maybe even anger, toward Lance, just for that 'thrill' aspect of the storyline.

DON'T get me wrong; I do believe continuation of the storyline needs to be 'snipped' a bit (especially for a bi-weekly strip), and THAT'S what comic book storylines should have, but I miss the confrontations, the panel angles, the wording of the characters, etc.

The 'Flight Ring' series, for example, has Super Heroes who are ALWAYS in a 'thrill' enhanced atmosphere, and I believe the 'B&B' boys should have it too....It's a GAY B&B; BELI-EVE me there is ALWAYS Drama amongst Gay Men in a close setting....so, don't hit me, OK?! : )

AND, p.s.; WHY did Jaime change outta those JUICY booty- revealing white bike shorts in the last posting, to these circa-2004 cargo pants? Will Jaime STILL fink Brad out to the team? Will Richard give Jai-Jaim a 'bold' cut job? so many answers, to be answered in our NEXT installment of....THE B&B!! : ) CHOW.....

..Oh, and let's pull out some 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T' for our ailing 'Queen Of Soul'...she's on her way to the "Freeway Of Love" in the sky, and I'm gonna miss her... : (

Agreed, it was a bit of an anti-climax. Jamie continues to demonstrate unbelievable levels of tolerance relative to his stated faith, but I'd much rather hear him GETTING a lecture from Brad than giving one. Between Brad and Kyle, I can't complain that Jamie's bullshit beliefs aren't being challenged. I just find it rather incredulous that Jamie meekly and contritely accepts their rebukes without so much as a "Well, that's just what I believe" (the standard response of the christian when confronted with logic).

Still, on the whole, I'm guardedly pleased with the way this is going. If Jamie's not the villain I want him to be, at least he's not the poster child for christian tolerance* that I feared he'd be.

It also looks like Jamie's going to be sticking around longer than I thought, and that the groundwork's being laid (so to speak) for a Price-Brad-Jamie love triangle, which, I'll admit, would be fun. But I've been spectacularly bad at trying to anticipate the direction the strip goes, so who knows?

One last thing. Jamie seems to wear gray pants a LOT. Is this a conscious choice to reflect a moral ambiguity, Greg, or just a coincidence? Or does Jamie just really like gray?

*that is, people's tolerance of CHRISTIANS, not christian's tolerance of others

Also, just have to add, hard-core christians tend to believe that being gay is a CHOICE, not anything that god "made them". If Jamie agrees with Brad that god made him gay, Brad's argument is extremely powerful: it WOULD be psychotic for some all-powerful being to create someone destined for eternal punishment no matter what they do. But if being gay is just a "sin" that people can CHOSE to commit, it lets god - and christian bigots - off the hook.

I like that Jaime's conflicted and confused. He likes the guys at the B&B, but believes they're all going to hell? That's some powerful cognitive dissonance. Kind of like Brad being in the closet while living at a gay B&B...

I dont know how anyone could think aw-shucks Jaimie would turn villain all of a sudden, but I too expected this to go another way, clearly. It went the PSA route, not the soapy one, which is fine.

And if this isnt set-up for an identify crisis and if Jaimie doesn't end up developing conflicting feelings for Brad, which leads to some Price and Rich action, then I must just be insane. I still want that to pay off.

It doesn't seem clear - despite Jaime's "tolerant Christian"stance - what his own sexual orientation is. Perhaps he's realizing his orientation and will be the catalyst for Brad coming out, or maybe emerge as the "straight" ally we've seen in Aaron Rubin. At the very least, important lessons are being reiterated about homosexuality not being a choice, gay people not fitting into a single mold (ranging from Richard to Drew), and about gay people being Christians and Christians being - well Christians in the true sense of the word - rather than homophobes. I don't fault Lance for "spilling the beans"; aside from being unaware of the straight-acting farce while traveling, who would even think to attempt it? Lance wasn't in the wrong, it was Brad for not being honest and asking housemates to play along. If you can't be openly gay in the "freakin' gay B&B", where can you?

I am a sucker for a happy ending and these other guys have over-scrtnized this episode.

unfortunately in the fantasy of a comic strip its too easy to wrap everything up with a pretty bow. especially in the world of sports . pro or semi pro, being openly gay in baseball or football is one way to hurt a career regardless of how you go about it

Greg:

Your artwork is good, but it's the plot lines and story telling that is not up to where the artwork is. To be honest with you this storyline along with the one of Kristian leaving is not a good one because it's convoluted and dry and it really does not represent reality. Why does everyone look like clones of each other?
