Well , looks like Kristian has issues.
Negative attitude towards Morgan was uncalled for regardless of his problems with his native country. I'm not naive to how Jamaica is towards gays either but no excuse to just go off on someone who is uneducated about it. Time for someone to knock him down and peg and get to the root of the matter. I see Kyle getting in the middle of something here and Richard better watch out if he tries to play his usual games with the newcomer.

I'm not sure Kristian leaving his gingerbread pancakes untouched was due to any internal pain on his part. Yeech.

The way Kristian went off to Morgan absolutely unnecessary. Even though, I have lived most of my life in the States, I was born in Jamaica. I had to deal with the craziness of the gay attitude from my family. Still, I don't lash out to people about what they may not know or what I may not be able to change. It is obvious that Kristian has some pain, but just lashing out at stranger that may not have firsthand knowledge makes that person a bit of a douche.

Kristian's rigid attitude on gender is typical of many (but fortunately far from all) gay males I've known. It always surprises me when someone who has been persecuted turns and takes it out on someone else in a similar situation.
But maybe it's like Kate Bornstein said: everybody needs someone about whom they can say "at least we're not THEM."

You said it Diana.

I didn't think Kristian went off on Morgan. It sounded to me like he went off on jamaica

Second anonymous is right!

Seriously, why are people reading this as Kristian insulting Morgan? His problem is clearly with attitudes in Jamaica, not with anything she was saying or doing. Doesn't seem like she was anywhere near as offended as most of you seem to be on her behalf.

To Mark specifically:
There is a judgment in Kristian's perspective, even if it comes from a place of suffering. His tone is accusatory. "You go to work dressed like this?"
He's doing the same thing his persecutors have done to him and his gay Jamaican brothers, judging someone for behavior outside his experience. As someone who's experienced this kind of myopia from some gay men, I know that just because you understand it, as Morgan does, doesn't necessarily mean you don't find it offensive.

Richard & Kristian could find a very rewarding relationship with each other, methinks. I'd be very happy for them both if that occurred this time around :)

As for his (alleged) reaction to Morgan, I don't think so. His reaction commented on the mentality that pollutes Jamaica :)

Diana, Kristian is not expressing disapproval at the way Morgan is dressed. He's expressing fear that she will be attacked for the way she is dressed, because, in his experience, "men" who dress like women are routinely attacked.

He's not judging her, he's judging the reactions of others to people like her, as he has experienced them.
