...OOP- Drew put Lance put on BLAST! Ha -HAAAA!! : )

AAhh, Our Lil' Southern Boy (with very Lil' ON, as usual), calling things out; I was coming home from work tonight, anticipating the latest installment at the B&B, and thought about what a previous poster said, about Drew or Kyle 'mediating', and I thought, "Drew may have the answer here..."

...It may be temporary, but he said what a great deal of us Posters were thinking....Brad is GROWN!!! He could've stopped Price, being built like a Nordic God, but...DIDN'T. point-blank-PERIOD. Price has his issues, but a Rapist, He is NOT. so, let's. close. THAT.

He is, however, going to have to have a Big Ol' Talk with Brad, and approach this topic (obviously) with some consideration...Brad feels some KINDA way right now, and if Price wants to continue this Friendship / Romance / F-Bud thing, he has to be P-A-T-I-E-N-T.

As For Me, I'm STILL Fired UP about Brad's 'How could you DO this to Me' stance....B-OOOOYYYY, get OUT!!

...ONLY One in the B&B with no steady 'D' (even RICHARD had that Kristian cat); Only One still 'In The Closet'(to an extent, and, unbelievable, at this point); Only One who wants to go mind-
numbingly 'slow' with relationships; Only One who thinks everyone 'wants' him, but doesn't pursue (..remember Richard's 'Straight-Gay' Brother?!) THEN, sends Mixed signals to the Hot Clark Kent with the Juicy Booty, who APPARENTLY gives Great Head?! ...c'MON, now!!!

SUGGESTED PLOT LINE: have 'Brad-Punzel' have second thoughts; Drew talks to him; lets him know that Casual Sex with Price isn't detrimental to his Self-Worth (& their budding relationship. then, let Brad go HOG-WILD on (& all over) Price! ..have HIM fall into a Sexual Power Play with Price, making Brad aggressive n' dirty , to where PRICE starts to feel 'cheap and dirty'! Price calls for a cool-out, asking where 'THIS' is going...and, voila! LOVE! (and a MUCH needed 'sullying' of Pristine Brad!): )

...We ALL seems to agree Brad DESPERATELY needs a character shake-up; Walkin' 'round in those Jockstraps ain't doing it anymore...but, DREW's looking GOOD with them Bikini-Briefs, tho! Ha-HAAAA!!

...CHOW, all! : )

I thought that Price was a rapist at first and he is certainly THE most vile of the house transplants but he didn't "rape" Brad. However, I will say this: rape is a state of opinion of the intended victim and it belies physical stature. That's just like saying that bodybuilders can't be in domestic violence situations and that's not true..The "logic" of gay men kills me sometimes....But I am tired of seeing Drew play mommy to a bunch of babies....However, Drew was right about Lance in the initial stages of their relationship but to say that Price is innocent is something that is not good....That being said: Brad's character is just not developing. I say: make him HIV+ and see if Price is still interested but that's a storyline that will not play out because we all know that most gay men don't like HIV+ men...OR another storyline could be: Brad becomes a total slut. But I would prefer to see him become HIV+. I just don't see Brad as a viable person in this strip. He's a typical white blond. Nothing there but fluff. Of all of the characters here, him along with Breyer are the least developed. What I'd like to see: (1) Either kill Brad off or make him HIV+...(2) Hook Lance up with Matt for obvious reasons...(3) It would be nice to see some drama or angst between Kyle and Breyer...(4) BRING BACK JEFF!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

I still dislike Drew on general principle (Brad will always be Housemate of the Year no matter what the polls say!), but it's refreshing to hear him talk so sensibly about this silly, manufactured "problem". There's nothing wrong with Brad that a good spanking wouldn't cure...and I'd be happy to volunteer to put him over my knee.

That said, while I do think Brad is making too much out of this, someone SHOULD talk to Price about sexual boundaries. It's obvious that he approaches sex as cynically as he initially approached friendship, and someone should tell him that not everyone wants a mouth on their dick on the first date...even if they enjoy it. Once Brad gets over himself (and, hopefully, his sore bottom), maybe they could both chalk this up as a learning experience and move on.

I'll admit I DID have a laugh at the first panel. Who gets too upset to do LAUNDRY? Price is playing you, Kyle!

Luca said...

I think all this focus on the actual act is misplaced. Price has been insensitive because he didn't care about the other's wishes and desires and put his own wishes and desires first without bothering asking; the fact it's about sex (and, frankly, no, that's not sexual assault; I don't think Price paralyzed Brad to give him a blowjob, nor that Brad was too ashamed to react or something) is secondary. It's the intention, his selfishness.

I thought there was an HIV+ character in this comic somewhere...hmmm
In any case, this isn't 'logic' of gay men exclusively - crying foul when they find they feel violated in hindsight. As I recall, weren't there a couple of college/university rape allegations that turned out to be false within the last decade? Who's guilty until proven innocent? Price, innocent? No, sleazy and presumptuous, sure. What irks me most is Lance's hypocrisy. He may be successful, he may be intelligent (to a point), but you'd think 'empathy' would be in his vocabulary. I'm grateful Drew knocked him off his sanctimonious high horse.

Sorry that I had to delete someone's comment, but the term you used to describe Morgan is considered hate speech. Please try to be more respectful.

Jack said...

How so if gay people describe them as that and they do so themselves? #waytoosensitive# you should go through and delete all of the posts because they all have some derogatory comments. You side with certain posters of a particular viewpoint and hue....but hey, whatever. It's too be expected...

Let me introduce myself. Long time Kyle's B&B fan. Rarely post on this website, because I email Greg privately after every episode with my comments. (And he usually writes back! Usually!).

Although I don't post here often, I always read the comments. Some interesting stuff. But I've been troubled by how a few trolls have begun to dominate the comments section here. I've spoken privately to Greg about this, and he's not happy about it either. But he's too busy creating the comic strip to play blog police.

That's where I come in. I volunteered my services to be a moderator for the Kyle's B&B website. And he agreed. I've now been given administrative control to delete comments and block repeat offenders. And believe me, I will.

Greg has had a more hands-off philosophy over the years. He's very grateful for the readers who leave comments, and only steps in when someone really goes over the line into hate speech.

I will not be as lenient. What I've tried to explain to Greg is that the few trolls are scaring away commenters from commenting, because no one wants to be on the receiving end of their inane ranting. Well, that won't be happening anymore. Wildcat is here.

Understand this: it's okay to post critical comments about the strip. It's NOT okay to go on long, stupid, aggressive rants vomiting up the same inane comments again & again, while attacking other commenters. If you have a critique, say it constructively and move on. Don't tell us 1,000 times why you hate a certain character, or want them dead, or whatever. Once is enough And don't insult other commenters you may disagree with. As Greg would say, be respectful. There are plenty of other websites out there to work out your anger issues. This is not one of them.

I'll be re-posting this message at the beginning of the next episode's comments page, and maybe for a few episodes after that. And for the large majority of commenters who ARE respectful and bring intelligent commentary to this site, you can breathe easy now. Wildcat is here.

I think this strip has an interesting discussion about men and sexuality. Being gay men, there's the idea we're promiscuous, or at least less restrained being open and sexual. Many of us have no problem with the idea of hooking up, anonymous and spontaneous sex, and generally being libertine. The atmosphere of the B&B even seems sexually charged - rather than being naturists, some people walk around scantily dressed and others often compliment this - even dissenters like Rudy come around to appreciate the display.

This likely informs the behavior of Price on the date, and his surprise at Brad's reaction given Brad walks around in jocks and enjoys the oral encounter. I think this strip is useful in showing we can have differences in our approach to sex. Brad seems a bit confused and traditional - being embarrassed when Delia saw him nude, as an example. I'm sure it will all work out eventually - we often see the characters learn from each other and their experiences, enemies become friends, or more. As always, thank you and can't wait for the next entry!

Wildcat: I am going to go out on a limb and say that this was mostly directed at me. However, I don't see the need to put it out there like that especially given the fact that you and other "personally emailed Greg." It's a comic strip people and it's not that deep to where someone would need to "monitor comments" we are not in an authoritarian society and freedom of speech which is the 1st amendment should prevail.

"Trolls?" Oh boy...I think that the boys and girls here are way too sensitive but if you and any other guy to which posts here want a DEBATE which requires TWO opposing sides then perhaps he or she should do some research. In other words, if they can't keep up then why is it any one else's problem?

"Attacking other posters? Again, OBVIOUSLY you haven't read all of the postings but if you attack someone either by color, sexual position and things of that nature then you should be expected to be attacked back. We are not in Mean Girls or Clueless of things of that nature. We are grown adults, I think...But don't debate or disagree if you have not done any sort of research or background but you should know that if Greg puts up this type of strip then it is open for public opinion, which is what he wants to a very large degree. In other words: get a grip people...

The mere fact you responded as the person in question should tell you everything you need to know. At no point, no where, did anyone say who the inferred person(s) was. If you feel that you are said person in question, maybe you need to take a look at yourself and ask why that is.

Now, let WildCat do his moderation as required, and let's discuss the comic instead.

Jack said...

Ardenwolfe: You can stop with the baiting now. I know EXACTLY what you're trying to do. I responded because I felt like it. And.....? Wildcat will not delete ALL posts that can be seen as "offensive" Just those who "message Greg Privately"

Now your paranoia is showing. It doesn't matter. You've showed everyone that even you know what you're doing is trolling. Yes, you've misstepped. And yes, I do hope you'll be gone for good.

The community has had it with your nonstop nonsense.

Wildcat said...

To Jack/Bud Morries:

I'm going to allow your comments to stand, this time, because you're responding to the new moderation situation here. But understand this: you now know the moderation situation. Any further commenting and/or griping about it will be deleted. Any further referring to other commenters as "babies" or other derogatory terms will be deleted.

Ardenwolfe is right. Discuss the comic instead of this pointless whining. This is, truly, the final warning.

Jack said...

Wildcat: but that's just it I can't discuss the comic as it's written because when I do you have a bunch of people on here who get upset because I dare to have a difference of opinion and now it appears as if it's you as well. That's all good because it's not that deep to me. Besides it's not like anyone really response to anything outside of wanting to see these cartoon characters in a bunch of briefs or spandex...

Wildcat: I'll tell you what just go ahead and add me and get it over with because I'm never going to agree with you or some of these other boys and girls here. I come from a very educated family and as such we require people that are equal intellect. So it's like I said go ahead and do it and get it over with and makes some of these so-called people who post happy... but just know this I'm better than this...

Does Bud James Morries' histrionics count as a means for removal? We aren't "boys" and "girls" neither are the commentators on here "so-called" people (they/we are just regular people who have the privilege to say something on the comic which seems to draw your aggressions on). Just because you elevate yourself over people, doesn't really mean you're taking the moral high ground.

What exactly do you gain from harassing people here? Is that supposed to be your greatest ambition? You say you're a sensitive soul, but all we see is a sensitive ego.

But that's none of my business...

This side-quest in the Comments is almost as interesting as when Robert went after Rudy.

I like the look on Kyle's face in the first panel of the second brace. Kyle is always so mild-mannered, but this time he seems truly annoyed with Lance for being so quick to read the Brad-Price text in his own one-sided way. I've often sensed a self-righteousness in Lance, and, unlike Drew, he seems to want to pass judgments on everything.

The overriding question is: Is Brad vexed by what happened because he is ambivalent about Price, or because he is ambivalent about being gay? Or is it something else? The general feeling I get from fellow posters is that Brad is acting immaturely, but I think that's because he is still very young and unseasoned and he doesn't yet know what he wants from his sexuality.

This could be his chance to experiment and see how he feels, but it not be the right moment for him.

ethan2chris said...

Correction:

It may not be the right moment for him.

Jack said...

ethan2chris: That's the thing about Kyle: he's so mild mannered and docile. The only time that we've seen him show some backbone is when Richard hit on his lover and he still allowed him back in. We've never seen any angst or drama or real life situations with Kyle. I agree with Lance about Price. So far in this strip, he hasn't shown any redeemable qualities at all and his brand of drama is bordering on boring to say the least. At least Lance did so with the intention of gaining something and was open about his sleeziness...

I think that Brad doesn't know what he's ambivalent about but I think that it's a combination of being gay and Price. His character is contrived to me and he's easily dismissible. Brad is acting immaturely but I don't buy that he's very young. He's had hook ups with Eduardo (another head case), Matt (possibly THE best thing for him) Morgan (another potential love story that went nowhere) and a few other people.

I think that he's given too many excuses because he wears underwear but incorporates very little thought processes. He appears to have internalized homophobia but to be honest with you, I don't think even that's a viable excuse.

Just lost all respect for Drew as a social worker and/or therapist. That BS about "crying foul afterward" is word-for-word the kind of crap women who accuse men of rape have to deal with. "Oh but she didn't resist, and then she cried foul after changing her mind!" NOPE. NOPE NOPE NOPE. Drew, you're an asshole.
