.....OK, did anybody else misread Jamie's "Oh. Uh,.." in panel 5 as,'Uh-Oh' when Kyle admitted his sexuality!? I was ready to see Kyle get into some fisticuffs!! ha-HAAA!! : )

Jaime seems a tad too inquisitive about religion and sexuality; he surely has some mysterious inner torment within him he seems to want to speak to someone about (hence, his 'own sins' he needs to 'focus' on..), but, still seems to naive to go about it...I'm still wondering how this plotline is going to move....better be a banger, Greg, ha-HAAA! : )

AND, speaking of 'bangin'', even though I side-eyed Jaime's grasp on Kyle when he felt he hurt him in panel 9 (I'm sure evangelistic Christians can be touchy-feely with Gays), how did Kyle ever manage to keep him hands OFF of Jaim-Jaim's RUMP?! ...talk about sin-FULL!! GRRRROWWWLL! >; )

....HOPE I didn't offendmore so than usual)...hooo-HAAA! : )

CHOW!

Jaime is just being portrayed as way too creepy. Seems like this guy has some type of agenda going on which hopefully won't turn into some type of cliched plot involving his struggle with his own gayness

I only hope that this character can be a chance of shows that not all the christians are homophobics.

I'm gay and catholic myself and I hate when my religion is stereotyped.

Rip, not trying to pick a fight, but your religion is not stereotyped. Homosexuality is a sin according to Catholic dogma. Pope Francis reiterated this just recently. Whatever you yourself believe, if you regard homosexuality as non-sinful, you're in direct conflict with the teachings of your faith.

Meanwhile, it's nice to see someone finally call Jamie on his bullshit. He might be a "sweet boy with a great ass", but anyone who goes around espousing that homosexuality is a sin is not a friend to the community. He sure rolled over awfully (conveniently, unconvincingly) fast, though. One mild rebuke from Kyle and he's flooded with remorse? Doesn't seem very realistic.

Great installment -- I love how we're getting a little bit more of Jaime's story/personality every time. He seems full-on naive, kind of nervous about being outcast, and quite emotionally open (not to mention touchy-feely). Which is sweet and, intentionally or not, kind of sexy in a full-grown man with that body. I'm interested to see where this is all headed.

I like the way the strip is playing.

If people actually READ the bible instead of letting the church tell them what's in it, they'd realize the bible says NOTHING about homosexuality.

#1. The word wasn't even invented until circa 1876. So how did a 19th century word end up in first century writings? No one knows what the original word that somehow got translated into homosexual really meant.

#2. Christ is the fulfillment of the Law that Christians love to use against us (Leviticus). However the Law also says in Deuteronomy to stone the unfaithful wife and Jesus DIDN'T throw the rock. By sticking with the Law that's already been fulfilled the modern church makes Jesus into a sinner and he was the only perfect one.

#3. Paul wrote to the Romans about not sleeping with men. What were the Romans doing at the time? Conquering the world. The soldiers were anally raping prisoners as a sign of dominance. Sort of like when your dog humps your legs. It's a sign of dominance. Paul was telling the Romans to treat prisoners better, not that same-sex relationships were bad.

#4. Just for fun. Remember the Bible does NOT say slavery itself is bad. Only that masters should treat slaves like brothers. Read Philomon. Paul sent the runaway slave BACK to his owner with a letter pleading the owner to treat the slave well.

Christianity is about one thing and one thing only. Love. Love others as you would want to be loved. It's that simple. Sadly today's church doesn't seem to care about that.

I hope someone finds peace with this.

Kyle's response to Jaime was perfect. Bravo!

And Jaime is no straight boy. I know of no straight boy who walks around with his boxer briefs and crew socks in house full of gay men. Shirtless and in sweatpants without underwear...surely! But not in boxer briefs and crew socks...never!

I know it kinda looks like a "Latter Days" sitiuation; but, the boy could just be a naif in an all male atmosphere where he's comfortable in his scivvies around other dudes because there are no women around.....

I assumed they were athletic shorts like bike shorts, not boxer briefs, although without seeing the full frontal view, it's hard to tell.

In any case, it certainly does seem immodest lounge-wear for a self-described evangelical christian.

Mark said...

They do, in fact, seem to be the same shorts he was wearing when he moved in (and has worn ever since?), so, no not boxer-briefs...unless he walks around outside in his underwear all the time, which is my kind of christian.

Mark said...

Nevermind, not the same shorts, they don't have the little slit on the side the moving shorts had. Greg is going to have to settle this one. My underwear OCD brain will never rest until this question is answered! My god, why can't everyone just wear tighty-whities all the time?!

Greg Fox said...

Loving the enthusiasm about this "are they or are they not underwear" issue. Well, here's the official call: they're bike shorts, NOT underwear. LOL.

Mark said...

Thanks, Greg! You might think I'm kidding, but I swear, that would have kept me up all night.

Greg, thanks for writing about Jaime's remark as being arrogant and insulting. It needed to be said.

I absolutely love this comic! I already bought all five books in one night to see the beginning of it all and to read it with more ease!

My favorite character is Price with Richard following close behind! I just love how mischievous and wicked they can be to create drama or to give it an end with a flair.

And with how the story is progressing, I really want to see Price meet Jaime. "Satan's son" meeting the forgiving Christian boy with Brad being why they clash! But also hopefully become friends which can only cause more intrigue and drama!

Much love!
