Somehow this was coming whether anyone saw it or not....just sorry Lance got hurt...but I think by the end of it Price will wish he were dead , and I'm sure the one in the middle...Lance's Ex will get hurt pretty bad too.

I hope that Lance dumps this white piece of trash! Drew is a nitwit and this is yet again another episode where the white guy treats the black guy like a doormat! THIS is why Lance is sleeping around with different guys! He's afraid of getting hurt and he is doing just that, etting hurt! First it was Brad hurting Matt and now this....Greg DO NOT have them get back together!!!!!

Is it wrong of me to love Price so much? Never a dull moment with him around.

Pretty sure this isn't going to turn out the way it seems. I have a feeling there's an alternate explanation for the nudity.

I hope not! Look most gay relationships do not work out. Especially interracial ones. Lance can take comfort in the fact that he banged finer men than Drew. Hopefully he'll get them both back by banging Eduardo again.

You know, I like to allow people to speak their minds here, and I give people a lot of latitude. This is really a forum for the readers, which is why I don't post very often here. But when someone starts making blanket derogatory statements about ANY group, that's over the line. So, sorry, but... that deleted comment had to go. If you just want to post angry, mean-spirited statements on the internet, there are plenty of places to do that. This isn't one of them.

Again, I do appreciate people's thoughts and comments. But please be respectful. Be kind. Thank you.

Anonymous said...

Greg,
You state that the comments are blanket and derogatory well guess what? Not all gay men are into "love, peace and harmony..." Throughout gay history there has never been equality and that's a proven fact. However, I agree with the poster in how you use your black characters as more of a backdrop. It's your strip and that's your choice. You know what sells and what doesn't.
On that note, there is a book of Drew that you put out and you know that it could be considered typical gay male behavior but again no one states that because some people consider Drew to be hot...
You say be respectful but have you read some of the comments regarding Lance? Seriously! For the record I've never liked Drew or Brad. They are too much of an airhead for me. I did like Bjorn and Jiang though. Lance is ambitious and intelligent and we all know that there aren't that many people that can handle a good looking, intelligent, black male who doesn't always play by the rules.
It remains to be seen if your couples who are interracial can work. I'm curious though as to why you wouldn't have Price hitting on Breyer/Kyle. No matter but I agree with the poster blasting Drew though.....Am I allowed to do that here?

Here's the ironic part. I never thought or think about Lance being 'black.' I thought of him being a great character who is ambitious and maybe a bit of a backstabbing slut who might sleep his way to the top.

The storyline has nothing to do with race. But everything to do with the most interesting characters that creates the most interesting drama.

For the record, I've been in an interracial relationship for over 14 years now. Please don't tell me they don't work. My spouse'll be so disappointed.

Oh, and I deleted my above post because of some typos. That's just the inner editor in me. :)

PRICE RULES! (For now anyway.) Ya gotta love that guy!

Anonymous said...

Ardenwolfe I wholeheartedly agree with you. I think Lance is one of the more complex characters in this strip. He has a cool, confident exterior and that is his defense mechanism because he feels vulnerable letting himself falling in love with a guy. He used to be in ballet if I remember correctly. He is not feminine contrary to stereotype nor is he hyper-masculine which in Lance's case would be another racial and gender stereotype of black men.
Lance and Matthias were quite a contrast to each other because Lance's class status had seemingly insulated him from overt racism. Matt being working class, gay, and black experienced America quite differently. I liked the conversations they had. That was one of the best episodes that actually dealt with racism. The point in the strip this week appears to be that Price has Lance's vulnerabilities figured out. Lance is his own worst enemy and ended up playing right into Price's plot as well the sleazy corporate guy who hates Lance too. I really like Drew and Lance together, the people who say that "interracial relationships don't work" are showing a subtle prejudice of their own. Describing someone as "white piece of trash" is a derogatory racial and class remark too. People are more complicated than their class background, ethnic background, or skin color. If a relationship didn't work it was probably about something else entirely. But for some people blaming it on ethnic divides is the easy story to tell, the easy way out and that's truly a shame.

Lance's conversations with Mattias were short lived and there was SOME discussion in terms of race but that'sit, SOME and not enough. This is why I say that the strip makes the black characters along with the asian and hispanic, and female characters cow tow to the white male characters. At times it's reguritated and constipated but other times it works.
At first I thought that Lance opening up to Drew was a good thing but I don't know right now. Interracial relationships are a complex thing I don't see working in the gay realm. You have to cowtow to your partner and I don't like that at all! Price has Lance figured out but TRUST me, Lance will get even with Price because Lance is a lot like me and we hate losing. Didn't Lance date a minister at some point? Maybe Greg can bring him back...I think that Drew and Lance will end up together because Drew gets inside of Lance's feelings more and Lance gets inside of Drew's head. For some reason, I think that Price is attracted to Richard. I don't know why but I do...

We'll find out the reason for the southern boys being undressed in a couple of weeks - things aren't always what they seem to be at the guesthouse. I think I'll need to buy the books to read some of the background in the strips I've missed - sounds interesting. There are people who've commented who don't believe interracial relationships work. They certainly do in many cases - maybe some can't imagine it happening, especially for them. The thing is everyone is individual with differences. None of us should be painted with one brush as representative of an entire race - just as we gay people are also diverse.

Troy Haliwell said...

Disappointed. Very much so. Could care less what those "southern boys" did, but care more for the fact that Drew would sleep around when he is supposed to be in a relationship of sorts with Lance, no matter how early it was or how rocky.

Smacks of stereotypical behavior of gay men. You have a fight, you have a problem, one goes out of town. . .then I guess it is okay to have sex with someone else.

Even if they didn't, the fact is that of course that is what Lance is going to see when they are both all but nude in the same room-what conclusion could he not come to?

Not to mention Drew is getting painted as an idiot. He would have known about Price's duplicity and sneakiness. I have a hard time believing that Drew is a stereotype.

Here I was thinking that he had the moral standards and the decency standards of Kyle.

Guess I was wrong.

Anonymous said...

Shaun: I've dated Southern boss and yes they are sneaky, that being said, everyone praised Drew at how "hot" he was and how sweet he was and here be is being an idiot. You all put Lance down constantly when he has every reason to be suspicious. 1. The company worker had seen Drew naked...2. Now this... And yet and still you all criticize him for being ambitious and such when we all know that the rules apply differently to black men..... Look at the gay community, the establishment has long ignored the contributions of black gays. In fact this step had never mentioned gay racism nor made reference to it. I've dated white men and to be honest with you it wasn't positive. All interracial couples don't break up but.......Look at BWMT group, they area bunch of much, much older white men who like black MEAT!... Back to the strip, I don't think that Lance should have to cow tow. There is a reason as to why he's tough. As mentioned before, I'm curious as to why Greg didn't have Price go after Breyer especially given the fact that he tried to take Kyle down.....

Troy: be careful, you dated to criticize Drew, you will be outcast. But you're 1st paragraph was spot on, knowing Price, it's something else but still.....

You're 2nd paragraph stating that this is stereotypical gay behavior will also get you criticized here. But most gay men do this type of behavior and it bothers gay people when it's brought up.....

You're 3rd paragraph: Exactly, if you saw your man in his undies with your enemy, you'd be upset too! Yet these people here want Lance to be a "friendly gay"

Paragraph 4: I've always thought of Drew as an idiot. Brad too. Ugh! To add insult to injury, Lance defended Drew when Price was putting him down and Drew goes out with Price for a "distraction"... Where is the criticism for Drew? Lance now knows you can't turn white trash into husband material....just saying.....
B

Drew isn't mistreating Lance, Lance is the one who has been treating Drew like dirt for weeks. Lance's insecurities are not a good excuse for the way that he has been acting. That being said, sleeping with Price was not a good idea. Lance doesn't have the right to be mad, but Drew should have thought that move through.

Anonymous said...

So sleeping with the sworn enemy of your boyfriend wouldn't make your boyfriend mad?!? Wow, this is typical gay behavior! "Lance doesn't have the right to be mad?" What are you smoking? You can't turn a ho into a husband.....Lance has had better and will continue to have better than this "hole"

B, on the same day Lance decided that he was in a serious relationship with Drew, he dismissed him from his office party, as if Drew was a speck of dust, or a paid escort. Lance did not treat Drew like he was his boyfriend, and he's just decided to take the first step to apologize.

As far as Drew knows, he hasn't been in a relationship with Lance, so why shouldn't he have sex with someone else?

Of course Lance is upset, but he only has himself to blame.

Anonymous said...

God, listen to what you just wrote. Lance kept him at a distance because he didn't want to get hurt. Would you suggest sleeping with your boyfriend's enemy after he stood up for you? I wonder about gay minds and the rationale. Drews of the world are a dime a dozen. This will shut Lance down permanently in terms of relationships. But Greg should have Lance sleep with someone else to get even....I swear gay men have no sense of loyalty...

Hey guy and girls,

I love "Kyle's B&B" and am reviewing it as a part of my comic reviews on YouTube.

Check it out sometime:

Ehh, Lance waited too long. As a fellow Southerner, I also do not care for blanket terms like "white trash" or "redneck" when referring to anyone with a Country accent. Drew didn't do anything wrong.

Anonymous said...

Sleeping with your boyfriend's enemy after your boyfriend defended you against the guy who belittled you ..? If that's not white trash then I don't know what is... for the record, I'm glad they are breaking up. You can't turn trash into a meal..so yes Drew did everything wrong. We all know how most gay men very down. Lance will get even

Greg? Can I make a suggestion? Please disable 'anonymous' comments. While I understand some disagreements, this is rather petty and ridiculous.

It's a comic book people. Not social commentary on race, culture, or sexual orientation.

Some of you need to reel it in.

Love and lust make people do the craziest things. We've all been there. This situation isn't black, gay or redneck--it's human.

Don't dish it out if you can't take it

True to a degree but I've noticed that worth the black characters they are cow towing to the white characters and it feels personal due to the fact that I've gone through what Lance had work the gay community as an African American gay male, I can tell you that color has everything to do with it. What I've done since then is hit it and quit it...I totally relate to Lance because this had happened to me and yes the guys were white. ...

Greg, can I make a suggestion? Continue to allow or engage dialogue. Not all black men are Tiger woods' way of seeing the world. I'm tough and militant. And.....? Ardenwolfe if you don't like what I wrote the don't read it. .. That's too easy....There has never been a discussion of race within the strip outside of a blip between Lance and Matt. The anger is there from a lot of black gay males.... is that "petty and ridiculous?" I'll tell you what, if Lance and Drew get back together, I'll never post another post. Deal? But it's not going to happen thank god.....

In light of 'Anonymous' calling himself out, since I never spoke of an individual poster, I stand by what I suggest.

Please don't lump an entire race into stereotypes.

And you can ignore what I write too. :)

I am on pins-and-needles to find out what will happen next in the Lance and Drew saga. Although Price and Drew were both half-naked and in Drew's room, nothing may have occurred. This reminds me of the drama of Dynasty, Melrose Place and Dallas. All the makings of a soap opera. All in all, I hope this ends on a good note.

Skye said...

Price is such a devil, but his day of reckoning is approaching.

I do hope Lance and Drew make it. He is the only guy Lance let get close in forever.

Lance stayed away from Drew way too long. He was not an easy man to date, he wouldn't talk about his life or Drew', which led to the escort incident. Lance may have been hurt in the past but he is allowing it to dictate his future. Now this situ with Price will fuel that. But I hope he can give Drew a chance to explain and not use this as an excuse to avoid love.

Drew needs to accept that Lance has some clear insecurities and even though Lance is hurting him, there is no reason for Price in his room. Even if he has supreme self-control to resist Price, he should not have taken Lance's feeling for granted. It sucks his effort to distract from Lance ended like this. I don't believe Drew knows the full extent of Price's deceptions. Cmon, Drew is a simple man, He wouldnt be out Price if he knew Price called him trash.

The racial and social issues aren't really factors here but they make fine excuses. Lance may have had to push himself to be financially successful but he let himself become emotionally closed off and his poor communication with Drew resulted in all this.

I hope they can make it. Good work Greg. you started some needed discussions.

I have always found Lance to be a MAIN character, on par with the other four core figures. I see him as Lance, not black or white. Kudos to Greg for having a rainbow (hello?) of characters. The cup is half full folks!
