BUT, we now set a precedent; an officiated MARRIED GAY CARTOON Couple...I'm sure this will be in the history books for Sir Greg, and I am PROUD for him, that he's left something that will resonate thru the years, and will have a positive impact for growth within the Gay community.....
And, as we all see these days, that these are VERY tumultuous times, and we as Humans cannot decipher where the answers, and talk for CHANGE, will come from. Here, in this strip, A brusque, Gay Italian Bear & disfigured, Handicapped Gay Man who survived 9/11, found the BETTER in one another, & committed to LOVE, FOREVER, to be together, when the times get troublesome....
They are relying on EACH OTHER, and I hope that We, as People, will reach into ourselves, as these characters: GAY, Black (Lance, Darren, Matthias, & Delia), Transgender (Morgan), Scottish (Mannis), Korean (Andrew & Jeremy), Swedish /Nordic (Njord),Irish (Jeff),Jewish (Rich), Canadian (Breyer),Jamaican (Kristian),Latino (Eduardo), Southern (Drew & Price), Elderly(Rudy),& Caucasian (Brad & Kyle), They will have differences, but attempt to work them out, so they can live harmoniously, as HUMANS, at the B&B....
..."Kyles'" may be fiction, but it seems to be beautiful, doesn't it!? 😕 ..Congrads, Nick & Dave, the road is YOURS, now....🙌
...PS...Yipes! 😖... HOW, can I forget the one & only Russian Man, SERGEI, & his significant other, Jake!? ...SEE!? this is what happens when you don't have your coffee, BEFORE you type!!
Meanwhile, now that the weddings over, it'll be interesting to see how you deal with our new reality as far as the BnB goes. I'm assuming most of the guys living there will stay quarantined there, so from a business perspective, it seems unlikely to hurt Kyle much...except, while I'm assuming Price, Lance and Dave can work from "home", the rest of the boys would seem to be out of work. Seems like the perfect time for Richard to pitch his webcam site "BradBriefs", and just follow Brad around with a video camera all day! Money problems solved!
RBS7079 Not to detract from Kyle's B&B, but the first depiction of a same-sex wedding in mainstream comics was in Astonishing X-Men #51 (June 2012) when Northstar (Jean-Paul Beaubier) and his partner Kyle Jinadu married.
@jjt: .... I stand corrected, JJT, but, I was referring to non-fictional "fictional" characters; Greg, if anything, was probably influenced BY the Northstar / 'Kyle' pairing...
**EDIT** ...WELL, after checking Monsieur GOOGLE, I see the Archie Comics character Kevin, got same-sex married to Clay Walker in 2012, too...but Nick & Dave were introduced in 1999-2001, so they have a longer 'lineage' than those characters, in terms of 'togetherness'....
...regardless of who's first, Nick & Dave were "in it" for QUITE the while, so it's still heartwarming to have a couple who's odds were against them, individually, NOW can gave this union collectively....Love IS Love, After All... ; ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1IAdaKTeuk
Greg's graphics are terrific in this episode. I especially liked the allegorical "hand" he dealt us in the 5th frame with: the Queen of Diamonds,a King of Spades &...a red... Jack! (oops!Sorry about that Mannis!I meant red "Jock";-)
