....Oh, no.no.no.no.NO... as much as I LOVE to hate Price (and lust, after that warm mouth & accessible booty)...this, was possibly THE most vile thing he's EVER done in the strip....

...I thought Levi's plotline would go like this; Kyle notices that there'll be bone-chilling weather One night, & is worried about Levi...he's almost near tears, & Brad (noticing Kyle's worry), offers to ride Kyle around to Levi's Car park hideaways, and bring him some warm blankets & Soup....

...Kyle / Brad notice a lone Car in a Park, and ask for directions; It's Levi (in the backseat), passed out, and developing hypothermia...He does not hear them, and Brad smashes the window, to get into the back seat Car door...

...they bring Levi back, with Ed & Rich in the living room in shock; they move Levi to the couch and get him out of his clothes....Kyle (still n tears) does NOT want Levi going back to living in his Car, and they devise a plan to find work for Levi to do at the B&B, and have a place to stay....

....THAT way, we can finally see Levi's Bod in a 'Onesie' with his big hairy tits & round, jiggly ASS wigglin' around.....

...win-WIN-WIN!! ..ha-HAA!! ....Oh Price, you better give head to someone FAST, Man.... CHOW!!

This is an ongoing problem with the gay community:

Sometimes a face that is fair and bright
Hides a heart as black as night.

In other words, many gays look for a pretty face and they don't care what's behind it.

Tragic.

@rbs7079 men dont have tits. women have tits. men have nipples and i hope greg doesnt do that with Levi. he doesnt need to be another walking gay stereotype in his jock or undies.

I must say that this is disturbing. I don't understand how Price can be allowed to even stay in the bed and breakfast after this. Kyle should kick him out. You all want to talk about Lance and how cold he is but he never stooped at this level. This is a new low and one of the most disturbing things that the strip has ever done. It's time for him to go. I never understood why he wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast if he has that much money to begin with. Simply disgusting.

Price's narcissism resurfaces again. On the few occasions he decides to hide it behind a mask of empathy (like the elevator issue and the bonding at the hospital) someone gets fooled into thinking he's becoming a nicer person, but more sooner than later he puts it back to it's box. Richard seems to have gotten his number pretty early in the game. I wonder if anyone else of the B&B characters are able to figure him out and not just think he's a spoiled rich brat making a tantrum.

Poor Levi :( . I liked what happened in this episode... this is the opportunity to bring him into the B&B. Seems like a really intriguing character. Also I love how concerned they became about his situation and wellbeing. Kyle's empathy made it possible since the beginning.

Just when you thought Price has turned a leaf, he reverts to type...

I'm disappointed, but would even he be that shallow?

Behrmark, I said that before and still think they'd be a good match.

If a homeless person knocked on your door tonight, would you invite them in?
So which reaction, Price's or Kyle's, is closer to most people's reality?

Unknown said...

Class is probably Price's one permanent blind spot, unfortunately. I am hoping that he can be rehabilitated, but it seems like it's not going to be an easy process.

Great episode -- lots of drama!

It would be different if he was a stranger but he isn't. He been in the home and Kyle and others has spoken to him. There no excuse for Price's behavior and quite frankly, I'm tired of gay people making excuses for this type of behavior.

I was homeless a couple times, very briefly. Lots of GLBT people are without housing. If we're really going to stick up for each other, especially someone we. know, we have to open our doors to them. Shame on Price.
BTW, hobo is a 1930s abbreviation for "homeward bound". Just came to mind

@Comicsprof:

....we're glad that you're in a better place now, CP; I used to be a volunteer for the (NYC) Gay & Lesbian Center's Anti-Violence Project (1991-1993), & for BI-GLYNY (Bisexual/Gay/Lesbian Youth of NY) (1992), and, it was ASTOUNDING how fast Gay People wound up Homeless, and, not just Youth...

..I had to give out condoms to the Youth(s) on weekends, and they would hang out near the Hudson St. Piers, because they had no Homes, or wasn't allowed in their Families' Home(s) during the Day...It was VERY hard to see, and, I stopped volunteering around Summer, 1994(?)....

...but, what Price did, was inexcusable...and this Man tried to take the B&B away from Kyle, and framed Kristian for weed possession! ...YES, he's a 'character', but he showed NO character...

..Calling Levi a 'Vagrant' to his Face, and not letting Kyle's FRIEND wait for him (inside), was just plain RUDE....because he's miffed, that he can't get tix to the FRENCH OPEN!?

...I wanted Price to be more of a 'Villain' in 2023, not a BASTARD... WHOO, he's got some 'spainin' to do....

Joule said...

I have a feeling Levi and Kyle are going to end up together....

Jack said...

@Joule

Yes, I believe that Kyle and Levi will get together but this year, I'd like to see Kyle grow some backbone. I'm sorry but I just don't see what Price has to offer outside of the stereotypical gay man who is unhappy and looking for drama. So far in the strip, Price has sexually assaulted Brad, tried to take over the bed and breakfast, tried to sleep with Lance and Drew, and now this. How much drama do the readers here need? I would recommend putting him out because there has to be some type of emotional growth enough to set boundaries.

Jack

Unknown said...

"How much drama do the readers here need?"

I want LOTS, personally. It's a soap opera.

And I think there's good reason to explore "the stereotypical gay man who is unhappy and looking for drama" in this strip. For contrast with other characters at least. And to deconstruct the stereotype at most.

Thom:
So basically what you're telling me is that gay men are (1) promiscuous, (2) addicted to drama, (3) can get away with anything IF they are deemed either attractive or rich, (4) will run away from being happy and then lament when they are miserable. Got it.

Jack

Unknown said...

No, that seems to be your position.

What I'm saying is that there are a wide range of characters at the B&B. Some of them do bad things either on purpose or through carelessness or misunderstanding, and then the other characters respond.

I like that dynamic because it keeps the B&B exciting and interesting to read about. And it also gives us the opportunity to watch characters learn and grow. We can explore stereotypes through the relatively innocuous medium of a comic strip.

In short, having Price (and Richard and Lance) around gives us, as readers, the opportunity to have strong emotional responses to the story. If Kyle threw out every B&B resident who did anything bad or insensitive, then it would be a pretty boring place. It's the drama that keeps the stories moving forward.

Does that excuse what Price did? Of course not. Does it mean I want to see what Price is going to do next? Absolutely.

Jack said...

Unlike most gay men here, I don't need drama to enrich my life. I react stronger to someone like Ed and Darren. I think that most gay men have this "doom and gloom" attraction that makes no sense. If you want drama, listen to a Judy Garland album or watch Dynasty reruns.

Price can be around (even though he sexually assaulted Brad) Richard tried to sleep with Breyer and Lance was a user. Got it. Nice way to trivialize what Price did and continues to do. There has been no growth, no cough, no redeemable qualities. So, Gay men= drama attraction. Got it.

Jack

Unknown said...

Yeah...you don't know me. Just because I like drama in my soap opera comic strip doesn't mean I'm attracted to it in real life. You're making a lot of big assumptions, especially when you paint all gay men with the same brush. It's pretty homophobic, actually, which is a weird stance to take considering where we're chatting.

you can sharpen your axe or claws all that you want to but I am allowed to have my opinion. PERIOD!

I see that I have struck a nerve. My dealings with gay men are just that, MY dealings and MY opinion.

SALK said...

Hmmm... Drama you asked for, drama you got!
What about a poll? Who's Levi staying with at the end:
a) Kyle,
b) Price,
c) Sergei (Why not?),
d) Frosty,
e) None of the above
Oh, my!

Unknown said...

@SALK: Thanks for contributing to the drama! I think the smart money is on Kyle at this point.

After his behavior in this episode, I don't think Price has a chance with Levi. But maybe this was their completely upsetting meet-cute?!?

It would be nice to Sergei again. He and Levi would make a solid couple.

I hope Levi doesn't end up with Frosty because that means he would be outside(?), and it's much too cold for either of them out there at the moment.

@Jack: You're not wrong. When I say I think drama in soap opera comics is fun and you twist that into a string of negative gay stereotypes, it does hit a nerve.

I'm sorry your interactions with other gay men have been so terrible, and I don't want take your experiences away from you. Clearly, your views are very important to you.

But stop acting like enjoying *fictional* drama is some kind of real-life moral failing. This is a comic strip. It's not real.

Jack said...

@ Thom:

That's just it, if I express my own dealings here with gay men, I'm told that I'm "self-loathing," "internalized homophobic," and a whole host of things that aren't true. TRUST ME, a LOT of gay minorities feel this way due to the Mal treatment within the gay community. That being said: I'm just going to refrain from responding unless it's people within the strip that I like because we have someone like Wildcat that basically threatens me when I respond. But hey, it's ok....right...?

Jack

Unknown said...

Okay, it's pretty obvious we're talking about two different things at this point. I'm genuinely sorry about the pain you're in, but it seems like this conversation has run its course. I hope we can both continue to enjoy the strip in our different ways going forward.

-- Thom H.

Wow! It goes to show that sadly selfishness and individualism also abound in the gay community! How come some stupid event ticket sales be an excuse to refuse help to a fellow human in need?! It is akin to a medical provider refusing a patient help because he needs to "go home to watch his favourite TV show"!

I've started following this strip after coming across it last year. Gripping storyline! It's both timely, emotionally fraught and suspenseful. I can't tell whether /how Levi will survive, but I can't believe how invested I am in a fictional character!

This strip is well written, extremely well drawn and has an interesting cast of believable characters. Kudos!

The cameo appearance of Frosty was the icing on the cake! And I agree with the " nope" he was thinking! We don't care!

Price is up to his narcissistic tricks again! Guess a venomous snake can't be trusted not to bite! It's simply in their nature!
