...>humpf< ....all this gr-atuitous Speedo flesh....I'm OFFENDED......that we never got this SOONER! ...ha-HAA!!
...I stated previously that I though Drew was becoming more of a 'Himbo' lately, because he parades around in Speedos, Jockstraps (or, little else), for a licensed Professional Social Worker....but, I'm not minding lookin' at (Lawyer) Jason's tight 'lil BODY, in those black Speedos!
....yeah I'm a shallow hypocrite, so what!? ...ha-HAA!
...well, It looks like Jase is not only pumpin' PRICE, but pumpin' Drew....for info, to why he hasn't been called back for his Lawyer services by Lance; I hope Greg speeds up the plot, because I'm VERY interested in where this can go......
....Or, who's gonna BLOW! ...so to speak! ...ha-HAA!!
....OH, YEAH! ...HOT Speedo memories; I remember visiting a Gay (Married) Couple in 1996, back on Fire Island...I had vacation time, and they invited me for a Week, because I never been there (at that time).....
....I didn't bring a bathing suit, and the 'younger' half of the Couple, was OFFENDED! ...So, he pulled out a plastic bag FULL of Speedos, and 'insisted' I model them for him (natch), to see which would be the best One for me, to wear....
...He chose a striped B&W One (from France), that was high on the hips, & with a VERY low hanging pouch, and I was SO embarrassed to wear it....
....But, the lovely, built Couple I ran into (who were wearing their Blue square-cuts)...at the RAMBLES.....thought they looked quite nice on me....
....maybe that's why they didn't stay ON for long! ...ha-HAAA!!! ....memmmmorieeeess.......
Here it comes! The campaign against Lance for withdrawing the job offer to Jason Forrest! Drew is no major mind - his "inadvertent" combining of Lance and Price in the same discussion can only confirm Jason's suspicions! Still, there isn't a legally recognized cause of action here, unless Jason tries to somehow allege harm to his reputation due to withdrawal of a job offer.
Most likely, this little contretemps will be handled "behind the scenes" when Jason confronts Lance. Can't wait!!
Amazing to see that 40+ year old men have good enough bodies to wear speedos and not look Yucky! Well, that's cartoons for you! And comic art and implausibility is why I'm a --- ComixFan
Just as some of us suggested, a connection is being forged between Drew and Jason, probably a mutual attraction which should set off all kinds of drama: Jason learns why Lance blocked him professionally, Lance becomes jealous when Jason seduces Drew. Price becomes jealous of Drew and Jason. A showdown between Dartmouth/Kentucky and Alabama and also between Northwestern and Columbia. Okay, despite the projections, some honesty would avoid the awkwardness. Lance has also had ill-advised affairs (the fashion photographer hired for Drew's underwear modeling). which crossed into the professional realm. Lance should have been more understanding about Jason / Price. Perhaps there really is unrequited sexual tension between Lance and Price. Since Lance has been less loving towards Drew, maybe Drew's eye will stray. Hopefully the rest of the house lets them handle their situation without hypocritical judgement and moralizing. It's time to shake up the dynamics of the B&B.
RBS7079 - do share more about Fire Island and the Rambles - pics or it didn't happen :-)
ComixFan is correct, there may not be a legal cause Jason can raise, though an accomplished lawyer such as Jason might find a means. I suspect Lance will be humbled and forced to extend the offer.
Jason should settle into the new wing with Delia, and we need some of the other characters to shine a bit - Rudy, Mannis, Nick/Dave, Sergei, and maybe a visit from some past residents or visitors.
@Frank: "...do share more about Fire Island and the (Meat Rack) ...pics, or it didn't happen ..."
...Oh, it HAPPEN! ...I wish I DID take pics, they were HOT! ...or, maybe I should've asked the (Straight) chick who walked upon us while we were..ummm....'ramblin'!
...Boy, did SHE get an eyeful!! .....ha-HAAA!! ...hot.....memmmorieeesss.... ; )
Thanks for the comments, as always, ComixFan! I am curious, though, where you got the idea that these two guys are in their 40s? Both Drew & Jason are in their 20s, (although I have a feeling they'll still be able to rock the speedos when they are in their 40s!).
Well....They're both...frontally challenged to say the least. That being said: I see Lance' point but I see Jason' point too. Legally, no job was FORMALLY extended to Jason and while Lance may have recommended it, Jason has no legality to challenge it. Any lawyer will tell you that without paperwork, it didn't happen. Yes we all know that verbal is a contract but Lance is not the hiring manager...That being said: I don't see Drew as the cheating type but I do see Drew blowing up at Lance because they've been together for over 10 years and still no ring or seriousness and we still don't see growth but even IF they break-up, it'll be hard to see either with other people....That being said: I see Lance' point based on what we know about Price. I am curious as to why Price is not pursuing Jason and this only highlights that Price was merely using him, which Lance was correct about.
@Greg Fox - You asked why I thought the characters were in their 40s, rather than their 20s, as you say they are. Well, Reasons:
1. No one in this strip, with the exception of Nic when he got married, has any family that ever shows up or that they ever interact with. Even Southerner Price, with his constant references to he "Price family" as a group, NEVER names anyone in his family. His mother and father and any siblings, if any, are never named.
2. No one in the strip seems to have any siblings or living parents. Most 20-somethings have at least one living parent and or siblings and they talk about them or at least react to them all the time. These men seem to be mostly centered on work and whatever they do with their spare time.
3. The house members all seem to have lucrative jobs - at least, no one is ever talking about being hard up for cash or needing to keep expenses down. In real life, 20 somethings would be living in a group house because they live in an expensive area (yes, true here) and they can't afford to live anywhere except in a shared space.
4. Real 20 somethings would have more of a social life. They'd be going out at night and every weekend. Since these are supposed to be young, gay, fit guys, in the NY metropolitan area, they should be hitting the beaches, going to the Cape, roaming around the Village and Manhattan and Queens and exuding more of a "Sex and the City" vibe. These guys are like Tony Randall in the old tv series "Sydney" -quiet, stay at home types.
4. No one, except Richard, who apparently does ad hoc DJaying, and the lone college student, (Eduardo? )who has no job, apparently, works in the gig economy. They all have "careers" - lawyers, businessmen, counselors, social workers, etc.
5. They would be more unsettled about everything - who they are, whether they are gay or bi or confused, what they want to do for a career, when they'll get a "real" job, how to interact with their families, what the future holds, and what they want that future to hold. They are all too "settled" for most people in their 20s.
6. No one has any injuries or ever goes to the ER. Real 20 year olds - and everyone else - are always twisting or spraining ankles while jogging or going for a ground ball, breaking bones due to tripping, ending up on crutches for various reasons - these are all features of active lifestyles.
7. Finally, in an election year - No one has a political stance? That's probably a good way to alienate people, but it's reality. Conversely, no one has a "CAUSE" - that they loudly proclaim from the rooftops every waking moment? There are plenty of those types also.
So those are 7 Reasons i perceive these guys as in their 40s rather than their 20s.
I enjoy the strip no matter how old they are! Maybe there's "fountain-of-youth-water" coming out of the spigots!
These are all excellent points ComixFan - the house and characters exist in a bubble which doesn't include nearby NYC. This may reflect characters in their 20s (or maybe 30s) depicted by an artist in his 40s or 50s. Greg does excellent artwork though perhaps is less connected to the lifestyles of gay millennials or GenZ.
Exactly. I don't know why but something about their previous encounter sounds...off...It's making question if Price and Jason actually did it. Usually Price becomes obsessed like he did with Brad but in this case, not a whip. It could be that Price is looking to start trouble with Lance...? Jack

I would never push to work for someone who judges me based on my personal relationships.
