...well, it's official. Drew & Lance are ON....THE....OUTS!
...my posts are long, but THIS One will be longer......I've always stated that these Two were the most '..mature...' of the B&B Couples, but One thing they DON'T have, is.......RESPECT. ...and that falls squarely on Lance...............
...Lance has always been cold, dismissive, unbending, unSHARING....and let's face it.....EVERYONE loves Drew, and see him as their '...Catch...', and have NEVER taken Lance into consideration; the Provincetown Ep always irked me, because THAT was their '..real..' relationship..Everyone stopping Drew, ogling, chatting, taking Pictures....
...while, Lance holds the 'purse'.
...BUT.....Lance's character has NEVER shown growth, emotional support (to Drew), and it's best, they NOW.........part. ...when Drew wanted to talk Marriage, Lance shut him down (in the Ep where Brad wanted Jaime to not know about the B&B being Gay), and THAT'S when I knew these characters should NOT be together......
...also, I've been bugged by Drew's regression into a 'Himbo Mark Spitz', always jockstrappin' & speedo-in' around, just sounding.....DUMB...... That's NOT why I loved the character, for....
...SO.....this Story arc will indefinitely be insteresting, because SOMETHING'S got to change between these Two......FINALLY....and, for the BETTER...................................chow..............
"...Lance is smart but arrogant and selfish. He is the Black version of Price. He should thank God every day Drew puts up with him...."
...yep, and all the more reason why Lance should rip Price's slacks open, and bang him down the B&B HALLWAY! ..ha-HAAA!
...It's clear that Lance is feeling some relationship pangs as of late, and 'freezes' out anyone trying to emotionally support him; Drew (being a successful Social Worker) seems to not address Lane's emotional unavailability.....they do NOT 'fit' anymore....
...Lance getting jealous over Jason banging Price last Year, showed how he's REALLY feeling; I never even THOUGHT that those 2 arguing, snitty, snotty Bitches would want to f*ck each other into the MATTRESS......It was there all ALONG!
...and, they make a nicer '..fit..', than Drew.... we'll seeeee.... ; )

If Lance and Price smashed, it would be the Mother of All Hatefucks.
Great plot twist, Greg--although I'm sensing a pattern here: man finds love, man has a relationship, man does something selfish and relationship is ended because bliss is boring and there's no conflict. Nick and Dave have found love, but we hardly see them anymore. Interesting
"...They wouldn't get very far... They're both TOPS....." ....Oh, Nickie, honey, No... Price is a big, BIG Ole' BOTTOM! ...he's like an empty vessel, waiting to be filled UP.....and Lance had got the PIPE, for his '..Tank...' ..... ; )
It's rich that, in Kyle's universe, what seems to very naturally apply as self-evident to sexuality, ("being gay ME", being born that way, not by choice), does not apply to everything else. It's Kyle who is lying to himself by pretending that you can choose what you like and what you will do or not to please others (like choosing not to ACCEPT ONE'S SEXUALITY AND NOT LIVE ACCORDING TO IT to please others with that choice, instead of "just being oneself"), and that knowing yourself is "inventing a character trait" when that character trait will piss off people like him... you only can choose precisely the contrary: lie to yourself to please somebody else, or lie by pretending that someone is just choosing to be mean and not just being himself and speak "from the heart". For goody-two-shoes like Kyle, you can only be yourself, be "you" and "speak from the heart" when that would please pretenders like him. And the hypocrisy of those who expect you to yield to their wishes and expectations, and considering selfish not to expect others to comply, but just say no according to oneself. In short, one can be oneself only as far as one does not pisses off those who consider themselves the good people, the normal, the standard of good character and behaviour.
Why do people keep lying to themselves and to others about relationships that are just mere hook ups for free, pretending that they are partnerships based on love, on sharing a life in common... oh, I just answered that LOL
This episode has certainly touched a few raw nerves! I'm sensing there's not a lot of love here for Lance ("cold, selfish, unbending") or for Kyle ("lying to himself" about pretending you can choose what to like, in order to please others).
Personally, I find that people in relationships tend to make concessions to make the other person happy, within reason. Where that turns fake is when they never get around to saying, "Oh, hey, can I take a pass on this week's "game/rodeo/ballet/conference"? I made other plans. Or, "I know YOU really like the "game/rodeo/ballet/conference" and I don't mind going with you occasionally because I love seeing how much you enjoy it, but I'd rather do something else this time. I don't mind if you go to this one. I'll go with you next time. Enjoy yourself!"
Every relationship has times like this. This scenario featuring two men who aren't self aware AND who don't have the language to express what they are feeling means that a titanic, dramatic break up is on the horizon!
Also, relationships aren't necessarily ONLY built on one thing -whether it's looks or sex or shared interests or similar world views. No one in that B&B is particularly focused on an exclusive relationship. Darren and and Eduardo gravitated towards each other for some common interests. Lance and Price actually do seem like they would have world views in common, since they are both focused on careers and money and prestige.
I'm guessing it's "time for a change"!! Some new relationships may be forming in the not too distant future! [Chomps popcorn]
As these characters have been written, the relationship has always seemed one sided. Lance has a lot of hang-ups and while there are occasional flashes of compassion (helping Nick to Canada to propose to Dave), he doesn't mesh with Drew any longer, not even physically. He and Lance have much more chemistry even if it's volatile, and much more in common. I agree with RBS7079, Drew has been dumbed down a lot, though it seems quite common in media to do this - dumb is funnier and gets more laughs. Until it isn't - seems like the dumbness of Jeremy, Drew, Brad, etc. is not well-received lately.
This episode seems as much about Kyle as Lance/Drew. Kyle is suggesting compromise to make a relationship work, working through problems overlooking flawed realities - yet he seems less flexible with Dennis, and before him, Breyer. Of course, suggesting a sale of the BnB would not work (unless Greg is retiring) but a long-distance relationship could be a workable compromise. FaceTime, WhatsApp, Instagram, frequent flights, flat rate phone bills make a continuation much more feasible than 20-30 years ago.
Maybe Lance and Price, Drew and Mannis would be nice pairings. Watching Drew and Lance suffer through whatever this is has become more cringeworthy than Richard / Fletcher.
I am not sure how to feel about this. You mean to tell me after all the time they been together they haven't had an adult conversation about doing things that they dont enjoy or have common ground? Its making it seem like they are only together for the physical reasons. i thought Lance would have some type of character development since being with Drew but it seems like hes still the same. if they are meant to break up thats fine but let there be more than just what is shown in this comment. Also i feel like even if Lance was honest as kyle suggested Drew would take an issue and maybe accuse him not being willing to do things he enjoys. i dont know i feel like maybe a comic before this leading up to this scene would have helped
thats how i feel, i feel like the lack of communication is about to cause a dramatic break up. and kyle kinda speaking for drew had me uncertain on how to feel
@markeece: Of all the people that are writing here I agree with your post the most. The fact that a matter is it seems as if Lance not having any type of development is done on purpose. Also, no matter what relationship anyone is in some level of compromise will have to take place and that would mean doing things that the other person may not like, is called maturity. That's why I put up my post about most gay men carrying only about drama, endless hookups and gossip. Personally I would like to see Lance with Darren or Matt but the fact that a matter is they have not done anything by way of development of the characters. That being said it seemed as if this episode was more about Kyle than anyone else because Kyle talks about compromise and yet he doesn't do it himself. Jack
I seldom post, but here goes... The Lance / Drew relationship is probably coming to an end because there hasn't been alot of noteworthy changes to be mentioned. If I recall, Drew and Lance were supposed to travel to Alabama to visit Drew's family, but that never came to be. What we now are beginning to see are various examples of a relationship that has more hints of two people simply coexisting for a mock idea of a partnership. If I recall in episode #415, Morgan and Lance were having a conversation about Lance's fidelity towards Drew. His answer actually has a kind of professional business arrangement feel to it, not a romance. The contract is about to expire. Hopefully, this isn't the case,
I don't get all the "snob" comments. The fatal flaw in this relationship is that Opposites really do not attract. Also, where is it written that a couple has to do EVERYTHING together? My husband hates sports and I have season tickets to the local Major League Baseball team. So I go with my friends that also love baseball. He is a huge fan of Stevie Nicks and I cannot stand her for one second. So when her show came to town, he went with his friend who likes her. No biggie.
Whether intentional or not, the writing is on the wall Lance and Drew are over. There’s no passion or warmth the way we see with Eduardo and Darren or Kyle and Dennis (or, dare I say, Richard and AI Fletch), Eduardo and Darren definitely don’t share all the same interests though we see them make the efforts for each other. Lance seems to be tolerating Drew, and Drew is seeming unfulfilled and always apologetic. There was allusion to the couple moving into a room together – that was brushed off. They never took the trip to Alabama, and we don’t hear about introducing Drew to Lance’s Chicago family. Drew seems to have reached his limit and written as being indifferent. Lance does seem possessive and jealous regarding Drew, but less about love/affection and more about being territorial. Lance has a high libido, and was angry about the Jason / Price encounter; does he pine for one (or both) of them? Would he like an open relationship – which occurs a lot in the gay community and should be explored / added to storyline. It can be done tastefully. If Jeremy and Mannis / Eduardo and Jake / Sergei and Jake / Kyle and Breyer can uncouple, why keep these two unhappily paired?
i think thats the issue i am having. it seems like they are going to break up because they are just now realizing they dont enjoy doing the same things and if lance express himself then its as if hes not being open minded and giving it a chance. i dont know if they are bound to break up i hope it just them realizing that maybe it was just a physical thing
Every few years, I return to see if the same person still plagues the comment section with his poisonous, mind-boggling ignorance and stupidity. Sure enough, still disappointed. Keep up the good work, Greg, and I'll see you in another few years.
Lance has a point - he participated in events of interest to Drew, same as Drew did for him. Lance is more vocal about his displeasure while Drew goes along with less complaint. Criticizing Lance is kind of a double standard - his character is straightforward, even blunt. Hopefully they work it out. Kyle may not be the best source of relationship advice at the moment.
Iassume you're referring to me. Question: what's poisonous, mind-boggling ignorant and stupid? Most gay couples that i know are in an (1) open relationship, (2) attracted to drama, and by sleeping around (3) really struggle with being happy. Those are MINE experiences and from the looks of it, a lot of gay people feel that way too... Jack
@Shaun, I agree with you on this and the thing that's disturbing is a lot of posters here want Lance to sleep with price to ask some spice and I don't see where this is possible at all because in any relationship you're gonna have things that you don't like about your partner and vice versa. Jack
@mwk... I agree with you on this because if you are constantly Being forced to like what the other one likes even though you may not like it then that is a stifling of personality. In relationships you're going to have things that you don't like about your boyfriend or who ever and vice versa and that's normal... Jack
I've been to a lot of gay rodeos and they can be a lot of fun as well as have some nice eye candy to look at but just to correct Greg, while the atlantic state's gay rodeo association still exists, they stopped doing rodeos in 2008, plus it was never held in New York ,it was always held in Gaithersburg MD with the host hotel being in Washington DC.
